With January done and dusted, and February coming to an end, there’s plenty to talk about. Ariane won the women’s race at the Race Around Rwanda on a Purple Haze, and the Atlas Mountain Race saw four(!) Sour bikes on the start line, including one prototype Sour bike!
This year is looking like another banger!

Here’s one from the wayback machine… all the way back in 2021! Light Wolf is a custom-everything bike shop right here in Dresden and has been a Sour dealer since the very beginning. Watch Light Wolf build this go-everything do-anywhere Sour Clueless!
Bike Check!
Quinda Verheul just finished the Atlas Mountain Race for the second time. The first she rode the Sour Purple Haze, but this time… well, this time let’s just say she brought a little “more” bike.
Bonus! Check out this YouTube Short David made for our recent very snazzy, very green Sour Clueless all-road build!

We’ve been prototyping a new platform at Sour Bicycles for a while now (three years!) and it’s not secret. We’ve been keeping details of the end result pretty quiet, but the prototypes are very much out in the open… maybe on purpose, maybe we were just too excited about them to keep quiet!
Steel is pretty environmentally friendly, who would’ve thought? When we moved all our production to Germany, we wanted to do so for a number of reasons including more control over our supply chain and faster turn-around for new designs, but we were also thinking of the impact of our bikes. Now, instead of shipping bike boxes full of a lot of air and a little bit of bike across the globe, we now ship tubing, stacked tightly. Seriously, the pallets of tubing we receive weigh a ton!
Bonus: If you want to read more about this, our friends up in Bristol made a short analysis of their operations!
If you missed Qvist!
Our friends Qvist have already finished their pre-order sale for their innovative double ratchet hubs, but in case you missed that, you still have time to order some hubs or complete wheels to be ready in time for the season! Click the link below!
Top Secret Skunk Works
There’s always a lot going on behind the screens of Sour Bicycles. This week we’re stoked to share a little sneak peek of…
Further prototype refinement.
