Sour News #006: UDH-Who?

Why we zigged when the market zagged...

Why Sour-Derailleur Hanger Instead of UDH?

Some time ago SRAM announced their Red XPLR groupset, and it came as no surprise that this group employees the UDH/Transmission connection to the frame. This marks the continuation of the hanger-less design that SRAM debuted with their MTBs not too long ago. Although we couldn’t react as quickly as some of the bigger players in the market, we’re here now, and we’ve made or own “UDH” dropout.

That’s right, we made our own dropout and hanger for Transmission derailleurs.

All New Sour Derailleur Hanger

We’ve been cooking this one up for a WHILE! We knew SRAM Transmission compatibility was the only was forward, but instead of blindly adopting the SRAM UDH, we decided to dissect it a little bit first.

What we ended up with was a Transmission-ready dropout using our own hanger (UDH still works). This way we retain our beloved dropout design!

All Sour frames ordered after Jan 1st will be Transmission ready. Instructions to install a Transmission derailleur are available at Sour.bike, or just send us an email!

Sour Double Choc

While we do our best to keep up with Clueless, Purple Haze, Pasta Party, and Crumble orders, we are also really starting to cook along with the Double Choc and Cowboy Cookie frames! We’ve had some amazing builds and paint jobs roll and walk out of Sour HQ recently. We’ve updated the Flickr with a couple frames and completes. Enjoy!

Strong Headwinds

As the year winds down and we reflect on the rollercoaster ride it has been, it's no secret that the bike industry has faced some serious turbulence over the past 24 months. Whether you're a small shop or a big brand, we've all felt the bumps. Some more than others. We've done our best to navigate these choppy waters with as much grace as possible.

This year, we've taken a few hits, including some serious health challenges within our team that led to a lot of struggles, long talks, longer wait times, missed deadlines, and so on. BUT, we made it through, and that's thanks to you, our amazing customers and friends.

You are exceptional! Thank you for putting your trust in us, for the great rides, and for those amazing builds we've shared. And here's to many more to come. We don't know what the future holds, but we're feeling optimistic about it.

Thank you,
Team Sour
